Supporting our High Streets

Our local shops, pubs and cafes are struggling to survive. The Labour GOvernments in Cardiff and Westminster are making it harder for them to trade, whether that is the higher business rates in Wales compared to England, or Rachel Reeves National Insurance hike.  I want existing and new businesses to be given every opportunity for success.

I want to reform the outdated Business Rates system, by bringing in higher relief thresholds to benefit more small businesses and introduce Business Rate Free Zones to our High Streets, to allow our local businesses to compete with internet trade. Local Authorities need to offer cheaper car parking to draw visitors in. We need to stop any tourism tax that would deter visitors to come into the area and spend.

I want to see the Brecon and Radnorshire pound being spent on our High Streets, showcasing fantastic local products. Everyone should support their local pubs, shops and cafés. These businesses are the backbone of our communities.
